Just a day after winning the National League Cy Young Award, Kershaw was named the league’s Most Valuable Player. He is the first National Leaguer to win both awards for the same season since Bob Gibson in 1968.
NEW YORK (AP) — At the age of 23, Mike Trout of the Angels is the youngest player to ever be a unanimous winner of the American League Most Valuable Player of the year award. His win comes after back to back runner-up finishes.
DETROIT (AP) — A person with knowledge of the deal says free agent slugger Victor Martinez has agreed to a four-year contract with the Tigers. The 35-year old, who would reportedly earn $68 million over the length of the deal, hit his .335 with 32 home runs and 103 runs batted in last season.
