Kentucky wins…Ashley returns, AZ wins…Spurs beat Lakers

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — Top-ranked Kentucky got 16 points from Andrew Harrison in a dominating 85-45 season-opening win over Grand Canyon. The Wildcats held the Antelopes to 15 of 48 shooting, outrebounded them 51-21 and blocked 10 shots.

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — Brandon Ashley returned to the Arizona starting line-up with a career high 21 points in the No. 2 Wildcats 78-55 win over Mount St. Mary’s. Ashley hit 9 of 10 shots in his first game back since missing the final 16 games last season with a broken foot.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Tim Duncan had 13 points and 11 rebounds to lead San Antonio past the Lakers 93-80. It was the Spurs third straight win. LA’s Kobe Bryant went 1 of 14 for just nine points in one of the worst shooting games of his 19-year NBA career.

NEW YORK (AP) — Trey Burke hit a jumper from the corner as time expired to give Utah a 102-100 win over the Knicks who have now lost seven in a row. Gordon Hayward had a season-high 33 points for the Jazz, while Carmelo Anthony had a NBA season-high 46 points for New York.

VANCOUVER (AP) — Martin Hanzal scored a natural hat trick including two goals within nine seconds in the Coyotes 5-0 win over Vancouver. Devan Dubnyk made 35 saves to register his first shutout of the season. It was only the Canucks third loss in 11 games.
