CHESTER, SC – Deputies under direct order from the Sheriff are stepping up their patrols tonight.  The fourth suspected gang member wanted for the murder of a City Councilman is still free.

Deputies are still searching for Derrick Dixon. The suspected member of the Roundtree Circle Gang is wanted as an accessory in the murder of Odell Williams.

Three others are already in jail, including 18-year-old Christopher Moore, who police say fired an assault rifle, killing Williams.

“These gang members think that they run this county. And they don’t,” says Chester County Sheriff Alex Underwood.

RTC is one of four gangs the Sheriff says is operating in Chester County. The others include 10-4, E-Block, and 135 Piru. They all target teens and young men between 16 and 25.

Neighbors say in a county with high unemployment, it’s easy for young people to turn to gangs. And according to the FBI, gangs are now targeting rural areas where they think it’s easier to stay under the radar.

The street where Williams was killed already has a notorious reputation. Roundtree Circle has been featured on the TV show Beyond Scared Straight.

In response to the issue.. a teen curfew has been in effect for several years, but only in certain neighborhoods. Now the Sheriff says he’s putting these gangs on notice.

“I think they need to be afraid. Cause trust me, we’re not going anywhere,” Underwood says.
