Man on the Edge: Are Surprise School-Shooting Drills Okay?

 Unfortunately, it’s not too hard to imagine loved ones being in a school shooting scenario.  That’s why police practice what to do, like they did in recent a drill in Tennessee.  But they took it to a whole new, terrifying level in Florida, involving kids, guns and shocked parents.

In Florida, only the cops and the principal knew what was happening.  Police came in with full gear, weapons drawn, and kids terrified.  Parents didn’t get notified about what was happening until after it was over.  Which was after some of the kids had texted about it.

The police are saying they won’t do it this way again, but they’re not really apologizing.  They point out that a real situation like this wouldn’t come with any warning, so why should the drill?  Which might make some sense.

So we asked our Man on the Edge, Robert Wilder, to find out if you think there’s anything wrong with how they handled this drill…
