NEW YORK (AP) — Ben Affleck was honored Wednesday night with an award from Save the Children. Before the gala, the actor spoke openly about his admiration for his wife, Jennifer Garner, and his spat last month with “Real Time” host Bill Maher.
Affleck took issue with Maher’s critical comments on Islam.
“I was ultimately making a ‘Sesame Street’ argument. You don’t judge a whole group of people based on the actions of a few.”
The 42-year-old actor says he’s grateful that his wife takes on the “lion’s share” of responsibilities, dedicating her time to raising their three young children.
Affleck was honored for his support in providing children around the world a stronger start in life. Among the evening’s other recipients were former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and Austin Hearst.
