CHARLOTTE, NC — Two new schools, and two schools that will reopen, will help relieve overcrowding in Charlotte-Mecklenburg classrooms.
The board approved the student assignment plan for the 2015 – 2016 school year Wednesday night. Oakhurst and Starmount are the schools reopening to help schools in east and south Charlotte that are bursting at the seams.
Before board members tackled the assignment plan, Chair Mary McCray talked about how they handled Superintendent Heath Morrison’s resignation. “Although there was a 6 – 3 vote to accept the separation agreement… eight of us, and I stress again–eight of us– agree it was in the best interest of the district to separate,” she said.
CMS Deputy Superintendent Ann Clark will talk about her plans for keeping the district on track Thursday morning on WCCB News Rising. Tweet or Facebook your questions, then look for Clark’s answers at 7:15.
