CHARLOTTE, NC — The light rail won’t be the fastest way to get into Uptown Charlotte this weekend. All Blue Line stations will be closed, except for the Charlotte Transportation Center Arena station.
Crews are tying the new streetcar track to the Lynx Blue Line. Meantime, the extension into the University area is moving forward. Crews are working on the old Concord station on North Tryon Street. They say traffic is a top concern.
“We’re going to work with businesses and the public as best as we can to make sure traffic moves as smoothly as possible,” said Lynx Blue Line Manager of Construction John Mrzygod. “We want people to know that the businesses are open.”
The Blue Line extension is set to open in the summer of 2017.
