NEW YORK (AP) — Britain’s Stephen Dillane and the Netherlands’ Bianca Krijgsman have won the top acting awards at the International Emmys.
The highlight of Monday night’s gala came when “Mad Men” stars Christina Hendricks and John Slattery presented the honorary International Emmy Founders Award to the show’s creator Matthew Weiner.
Dillane was chosen best actor for playing a veteran detective in the Anglo-French crime drama “The Tunnel,” while Krijgsman was named best actress for “The New World” in which she portrays an airport cleaner who forms an unexpected relationship with an African asylum-seeker.
The awards were spread among eight countries. Britain also won for drama series (“Utopia”) and non-scripted entertainment (“Educating Yorkshire”).
