
CABARRUS COUNTY, N.C. — Police say the man accused of killing two people and injuring a third person is dead from a self inflicted gunshot wound. Investigators were called to a mobile home off Shiloh Church Road Wednesday afternoon after a woman claimed she was shot.

Once police arrived on the scene they found two people dead and another victim with gunshot wounds. The alleged suspect, Reginald Mercer, was found a short time later dead from a self inflicted gunshot wound.
Shiloh Church Road remains closed as police investigate.
Mercer is a registered sex offender. He was convicted of taking indecent liberties with a minor when he was 18-years-old. He has been on the registry since 2005.

Mercer also has an extensive criminal record dating back to 2003 in North Carolina. He has been convicted for more than a dozen crimes including: indecent liberties, armed robbery, resisting officers and possessing drugs.
