ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) β Right-hander Colby Lewis has signed a $4 million, one-year deal to stay with the Texas Rangers.
The deal got done Thursday for Lewis, the team’s most successful postseason pitcher. The 35-year-old right-hander finished strong last season after an unprecedented hip surgery for a major league pitcher.
Lewis was 10-14 with a 5.18 ERA in 29 starts last season, and pitched a team-high 170 1-3 innings. He had a 3.86 ERA with two complete games in his last 13 starts after the All-Star break last summer.
Lewis missed 21 months after surgery in July 2012 to repair a torn flexor tendon. His comeback was thwarted by a troublesome hip, and he had surgery last year that was just short of a full hip replacement.
