Watch out for the Sixers
UNDATED (AP) β The 76ers are looking for their second win of the season tonight as they play host to Oklahoma City. The Sixers got into the win column two nights ago with a win over the Timberwolves in Minneapolis.
Washington, the first-place club in the Southeast Division, is home this evening to Denver’s Nuggets. Denver is playing .500 ball with nine wins and nine defeats while the Wiz are 12-5.
Last night Cleveland beat the Knicks in New York and tonight the Cavaliers are in Toronto to face the Raptors while the New Yorkers are at Charlotte. In the Raptors the Cavs are facing the winningest team in the East as Toronto is 15-4, sitting in first place in the Atlantic Division. The Bobcats are tied with Detroit for the longest current losing streak at 10 straight.
Years ago a Celtics-Lakers game always drew attention. Not any longer. Tonight they square off in Boston with the Lakers sporting a 5-14 record while the Celtics are 5-11.
The Hawks have won four straight and tonight are playing at Brooklyn. The Nets have won their last two games.
Defending champion San Antonio is at Memphis in a game featuring two of the winningest teams in the league. The Grizzlies top the Southwest Division with 15 wins in 18 games while the Spurs are 13-5.
The Mavericks are 15-5 in the Southwest and tonight Dallas is home to Phoenix. The Mavs are riding a five-game winning streak.
Utah has dropped its last seven games and tonight the Jazz are home to Orlando while the rest of the schedule has Houston at Minnesota, Miami at Milwaukee and the Kings home to the Pacers.
NHL-SCHEDULE
Ducks look to pass Canucks
UNDATED (AP) β The Anaheim Ducks can take over first-place in the NHL’s Pacific Division tonight with a win over Minnesota. The Ducks start the day tied with Vancouver atop the division with 37 points. While the Ducks are playing host to the Wild, the Canucks will have the night off.
Winnipeg has won three of its last four games and tonight is home to Colorado. This is a matchup of Central Division opponents.
In the final game of the night, Chicago’s Blackhawks are home to Montreal. The ‘Hawks come in having won six of their last seven games while the Canadiens are 1-3-1 in their last five.

Good game in Lexington tonight
UNDATED (AP) β By far the best matchup in men’s college basketball tonight is in Lexington, Kentucky, as the top-ranked Wildcats are playing host to No. 6 Texas in a Big 12/SEC Challenge game. Each school enters the contest with seven wins against no losses.
The rest of the schedule tonight has fifth-ranked Louisville entertaining Florida International, 11th-ranked Kansas home to Florida and 22nd-ranked Oklahoma home to Missouri.
COLLEGE FOOTBALL-NEBRASKA
Deal on the new coaches contract
LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) β Terms of the contract given Mike Riley to take over the football program at Nebraska have been released by the school. Riley is leaving Oregon State for a five-year contract that will pay him $2.7 million a year. Former Nebraska coach Bo Pelini was paid $3.1 million this year.
Riley was 93-80, with wins in six of eight bowl games during two stints totaling 14 years at Oregon State. The Beavers were 5-7 this season.
GOLF-WORLD CHALLENGE
Round 2 is today
WINDERMERE, Fla. (AP) β Second round play is on tap today in the World Challenge in Florida. The big news out of round 1 yesterday was the poor play by Tiger Woods. Returning to competitive golf after missing nearly four months with a bad back, Woods shot a 5-over-77 to finish the day in last place, 11 shots behind Jordan Spieth (speeth).
