ATLANTA (AP) β Alabama’s Crimson Tide is playing Missouri in the SEC championship game today. Should the top-ranked Crimson Tide hold off the 14th-ranked Tigers and get a win, they would most certainly qualify for the first college football playoff.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) β Florida State, the second ranked team in The Associated Press football poll, is facing No. 12 Georgia Tech in the ACC title game this evening. A win by the Seminoles would all but clinch a spot for them in the first ever college football playoff system.
MILWAUKEE (AP) β Coming off a loss earlier in the week, Wisconsin, the second-ranked team in The AP men’s basketball poll is facing another stern task this afternoon. The Badgers are facing in-state rival Marquette in Milwaukee. Wisconsin was upset by the nation’s fourth-ranked school, Duke, on Wednesday.
UNDATED (AP) β There are three day games being contested in the NHL. In Los Angeles, the league-champion Kings are playing host to the Flyers while the 19-7 Islanders are home to St. Louis and Ottawa is skating at Pittsburgh.
WINDERMERE, Fla. (AP) β The second round of the Hero World Challenge golf tournament in Florida was completed this morning. Play was shut down last night because of darkness after there had been a stoppage of play because of bad weather. The leader as third round play begins is Jordan Spieth (SPEETH) at 11-under-par, two shots in front of Henrik Stenson. Tiger Woods remains in last place after shooting a 2-under 70 yesterday.
