Tide, Frogs win big…FSU ekes by Georgia Tech…Baylor wins by 12…Ohio State crushes Wisconsin

UNDATED (AP) β€” Top-ranked Alabama and No. 4 TCU have done their parts to secure spots in the College Football Playoff. Florida State just hopes it has done enough.

The Crimson Tide claimed their 24th SEC championship by scoring three touchdowns in the fourth quarter of a 42-13 win over No. 14 Missouri. Blake Sims threw a pair of touchdown passes, and T.J. Yeldon and Derrick Henry each had a couple of touchdown runs.

The Tide are 12-1 overall.

In Fort Worth, Texas, Trevone Boykin passed for a career-high 460 yards and caught a touchdown pass as the Horned Frogs crushed Iowa State 55-3. Aaron Green scored two touchdowns for TCU, and Derrick Kindred returned an interception 44 yards for a score in the third quarter to put the Frogs up 34-3.

The win puts the Horned Frogs 11-1 overall, 8-1 in the Big 12. They entered the game third in the CFP rankings, behind the Crimson Tide and Oregon. The Ducks hammered Arizona 51-13 in the Pac 12 title game on Friday.

The question now is whether Florida State’s 37-35 victory over Georgia Tech was enough to put the unbeaten Seminoles into the semifinals. Jameis (JAY’-mihs) Winston threw for 309 yards and three touchdowns to help the Seminoles win their third straight ACC title. Rashad Greene had seven catches for 123 yards and two scores, while freshman Dalvin Cook had 220 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown in his first college start to help FSU run its winning streak to 29 games.

The Seminoles’ close call may have given fifth-ranked Baylor or No. 6 Ohio State a chance to advance to the College Football Playoff.

Bryce Petty completed 34 of his 40 passes for 412 yards and a touchdown as Baylor outscored No. 9 Kansas State 38-27 to claim a share of the Big 12 title with TCU. Johnny Jefferson had two touchdown runs, while Petty showed no effects from the concussion he suffered in last weekend’s game.

Ohio State had the biggest blowout win of all the Big Five title clinchers as Ezekiel Elliott ran for career-high 220 yards and two TDs in the Buckeyes’ 59-0 dismantling of No. 11 Wisconsin. Cardale Jones threw for 257 yards and three scores in place of J.T. Barrett, who broke an ankle in last weekend’s win against Michigan. Devin Smith had touchdown receptions of 44, 42 and 39 yards for the 12-1 Buckeyes.

β€” No. 22 Boise State has likely locked up a major bowl berth by wrapping up the Mountain West title with a 28-14 victory against Fresno State. Grant Hedrick threw for 155 yards and also ran for a pair of touchdowns while the Broncos were building a 28-0 lead.
