ASHBURN, Va. (AP) β Colt McCoy says doctors are still trying to figure the nature of the neck injury that forced him to leave the Washington Redskins’ latest loss.
McCoy said Monday he still has pain from the injury, which happened in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s 24-0 defeat to the St. Louis Rams.
The team initially announced that McCoy had a sprained neck. He was taken to a hospital Sunday night and had more tests and met with more doctors Monday.
McCoy said the injury actually happened when he was sacked for the fifth time with about seven minutes left. He stayed in the game until the two-minute warning.
The injury muddles the team’s quarterback situation even further for this week’s game against the New York Giants. Robert Griffin III and Kirk Cousins are the options if McCoy can’t play.
