WASHINGTON (AP) β President Barack Obama jousted with Comedy Central’s Stephen Colbert (kohl-BEHR’), blending a serious defense of his economic record and his immigration measures with a satiric take on his health care law.
It was Obama’s third appearance on “The Colbert Report,” his second as president. It marked the beginning of the final two weeks for the Comedy Central show. Colbert will take over for David Letterman on CBS’ “Late Show” next year.
Colbert, who plays an insufferable conservative scold, jokingly took Obama to task for his executive actions and suggested that Obama’s record creating jobs included his numerous secretaries of defense.
The show is often treacherous ground for politicians. But Obama played along, offering straight answers to loaded questions, but lampooning his health care law.
