
GASTONIA, N.C. — A smoke detector helped two residents get out of their home after it caught fire Thursday morning in Gastonia.
Investigators say the fire happened early Thursday morning on West Airline Avenue. Officials reported heavy smoke and fire coming from the home when they arrived on the scene.
The fire was under control in 30 minutes. Both residents escaped without injuries. There is no word on what caused the fire at this time.
The American Red Cross is assisting the family.
