CHARLOTTE, NC- The doc is in with some tips to help you pick bedding that’s safe for your baby.
Doctor Scott Spies from Novant Health says that loose infant bedding is still widely used despite warnings of suffocation.
From 1993 to 2010 researchers found that more than half of babies were being put to bed with pillows, blankets or quiilts. Numbers have improved since then but Spies reccomends not leaving your baby with one of those items.
Loose bedding also poses a risk for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome or SIDS. The American Academy of Pediatricts recommends not leaving soft objects in an infants sleep enviornment.
