Salisbury Police Officer Fired For Facebook Comment

SALISBURY, N.C. — Officials say a Salisbury Police officer has been fired for making an inappropriate comment on Facebook. Β 

The officer’s name was not released. Β The officer is accused of making an inflammatory posting concerning current events taking place in our nation, according to a press release.

The department says, “the officer’s comment was highly contrary to the legal and appropriate manner in which officers are trained to handle these types of situations. Β Furthermore, his comments are not a representation of how the Salisbury Police Department feels that situations like those occurring should be handled.”

The department plans to conduct an in-house refresher training course concerning their policy pertaining to the use of social media.
