Man on the Edge: Does Social Media Negate Holiday Cards?

This video is no longer available.

It’s that time of year.  Time to gather the family together, corral the kids, grab matching sweaters, get the dog to sit down, and do you best to put together the picture of perfection that is your family life.  Something you only get to show people once a year.  That is, as long as all your friends have been living in a dirt-lined stone cave without the Internet.

The average price for a family’s holiday picture is about $100.  And that’s just for the photographer.  Add in another $20 to get them printed onto cards.  Then with stamps and mailing costs, you’re looking at maybe another $50 at least.

But aren’t most of the people you’re sending them to people you know on Facebook or Instagram?  The people who already see every single picture you ever take?  Does it seem a little redundant?

Our Man on the Edge, Robert Wilder, thinks so.  But what about you guys?
