ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) β Buffalo Bills running back C.J. Spiller has been cleared to return in time to help the team continue its late-season playoff push.
Coach Doug Marrone says Spiller will be promoted to the active roster, eight weeks since breaking his collarbone. Marrone first wants to see how Spiller performs in practice before determining whether he’ll play at Oakland (2-12) on Sunday.
Buffalo (8-6) remains in the AFC playoff picture following a 21-13 win over Green Bay.
Spiller has spent the past two weeks practicing with the team, while remaining on the reserve/injured designated to return list. The Bills had until this week to determine whether to activate the player or place him on season-ending injured reserve.
Buffalo’s 2010 first-round pick was hurt in a 17-16 win over Minnesota on Oct. 19.
