LAS VEGAS–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Dec 15, 2014–Scott Hanson won FanDuel’s flagship event, the World Fantasy Football Championship, beating out 99 other competitors from around the country to take home the $2 million first prize and a private plane ride home through JetSmarter. While millions of fantasy football players across the country battled for their season-long league championship against friends and colleagues, FanDuel minted two new millionaires and paid out a total of $7 million dollars in the one-day tournament to the 100 competitors.

In addition to the $2 million first place prize, Eric Snead of Virginia won $1 million for coming in second place while John Lovelace of Atlanta, GA won $500,000 for coming in third place.

To compete in the FanDuel Fantasy Football Championship, players won one of 72 qualifying leagues held from Week 1 to Week 13 of the NFL season. Entry fees for the qualifying leagues ranged from $2 to $1,065, with league sizes capped from 108 to 59,482 players based on the entry fees. Each qualifying league winner won an all-expense luxury trip to Las Vegas for the Championship, which took place at The Cosmopolitan Hotel and Casino.
This year’s $2 million first prize is the largest of any fantasy sports competition.
