CHARLOTTE, N.C.- The sky’s the limit when it comes to this week’s Waiting Child. He’s smart, plays many instruments and and hopes to change the world when he gets older.
Meet Elijah. Β He is 14 years old and in the 8th grade. Β With a passion for planes and space shuttles, he hopes to one day save the earth from global warming, “My goal is to be a nuclear physicist, but if that doesn’t work then Plan (B) is to play an instrument.”
Not only does Elijah enjoy math and reading but he’s musically gifted. Β When he was 6 years old he started playing the guitar. Β Now he plays saxophone and is a member of the band, “I can play baritone, trombone, tuba and i’m learning how to play trumpet.”
Music holds a special place in his heart. Β He says it’s all about the story and the feeling, “The thing that I love about music is being able to go back into the heritage of the instrument that I play.”
In addition to saving the world and playing sweet tunes, Elijah loves being outdoors. Β From fishing, playing basketball to digging for gold— he’s ready! Β The difficulty is not having a family to call his own. Β Elijah says he feels alone Β when other people get to enjoy family time, “Whenever I see other people and their families and how they’re having fun with their parents I think back to my real mother and my father.”
