Β CHARLOTTE, NC — More people are traveling for Christmas this year. Β AAA says nearly 100,000 Americans are expected to travel at least 50 miles over the next two weeks. Β Most of them will take road trips, while nearly 6 million will fly.

If you’re flying out of Charlotte over the next two weeks, officials have this warning: don’t linger in the drop-off and pick-up zones. Β Parking officers will be ticketing and towing more now that a new hourly parking deck is open.

Interim Aviation Director Brett Cagle says it’s also a safety issue. Β “The world being the way it is today, the holiday time is also a time when, for most of us, we have to be cognizant of security,” said Cagle.

More than 150,000 people are expected to fly out of Charlotte leading up to Christmas. Β That’s in addition to more than 100,000 who connect through Charlotte each day.
