CHARLOTTE, NC — More people are traveling for Christmas this year. AAA says nearly 100,000 Americans are expected to travel at least 50 miles over the next two weeks. Most of them will take road trips, while nearly 6 million will fly.
If you’re flying out of Charlotte over the next two weeks, officials have this warning: don’t linger in the drop-off and pick-up zones. Parking officers will be ticketing and towing more now that a new hourly parking deck is open.
Interim Aviation Director Brett Cagle says it’s also a safety issue. “The world being the way it is today, the holiday time is also a time when, for most of us, we have to be cognizant of security,” said Cagle.
More than 150,000 people are expected to fly out of Charlotte leading up to Christmas. That’s in addition to more than 100,000 who connect through Charlotte each day.
