MILWAUKEE (AP) β Kemba Walker scored 27 points and Gerald Henderson added 16 as Charlotte held off the Milwaukee Bucks 108-101 last night, extending the Hornets winning streak to a season-high four games. Brandon Knight had a season-high 34 points for the Bucks, who were prevented from matching last season’s victory total of 15.
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) β Chris Terry scored the only goal of the shootout and goalie Anton Khudobin came up big late in winning for the first time this season as the goal-starved Carolina Hurricanes defeated the New Jersey Devils 2-1 last night. Ron Hainsey scored in the third period to tie the game for Carolina.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) β In their quest to become the first team to repeat as NFC South champions, the Carolina Panthers will lean heavily on healthy running back Jonathan Stewart. Stewart has run for 437 yards and a touchdown in the past four games, helping Carolina vault into first place in the NFC South. The Panthers play at Atlanta on Sunday.
LAS VEGAS (AP) β A.J. Hess hit three 3-pointers and finished with 21 points to lead Southern Utah past South Carolina State 66-56 yesterday in the Las Vegas Classic. South Carolina State was led by Greg Mortimer’s 14 points.
