Β CHARLOTTE, N.C.–Β The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is conducting a death investigation in the 4000 block of Old Pineville Road. Β
Police say they recieved a call for a welfare check just after 3:00 p.m. when the caller stated that they located skeletal remains in the woods near a homeless camp. Β
Officials say they will review missing person cases and rely on the medical examinerβs report to positively identify the remains and determine a cause of death.

Detectives are canvassing the area to determine whether there are any witnesses to the incident.Β
