Police Investigate Deadly Stabbing

Β HICKORY, NC — A Hickory woman is coming to the defense of her boyfriend, who’s charged in the stabbing death of another man. Β That woman tells WCCB Charlotte this was self defense.
18-year-old Christopher Mackey is charged with assault with a deadly weapon after that stabbing late Thursday night at a home in Hickory. Β Deputies found 33-year-old Phillip White, Junior with multiple stab wounds. Β He died Friday morning at the hospital.
Mackey’s girlfriend, Alex Everhart, tells WCCB she was scared for her boyfriend’s life, and the stabbing was self-defense after a fight broke out. Β “I was really scared,” she said. Β “It was two grown men against an 18-year-old boy.” Β She continued, “I want them to know the whole story. Β I want them to know that Chris did not murder him. Β It was self-defense. Β It was.”
Mackey will answer to his charges in court on Monday.
