The other game was played in Miami as the visiting Oklahoma City Thunder beat the Heat 94-86. The win gives the Thunder a record over .500 for the first time this season.
LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) β The nation’s top-ranked men’s basketball team earned its 18th win of the season last night, but it wasn’t easy. The Wildcats beat Vanderbilt 65-57 to up their record to 18-0. The only other unbeaten team in major college basketball is Virginia as the Cavaliers are unbeaten in 17 games.
BALTIMORE (AP) β Former Chicago Bears coach Marc Trestman wasn’t out of a job very long. He has been hired by the Ravens to be their offensive coordinator. He replaces Gary Kubiak (KOO’-bee-ak), who left Baltimore to take the head coaching job with Denver.
PHOENIX (AP) β If things look different when kickers line up for extra points in Sunday’s Pro Bowl game, they are. The NFL will continue to experiment with making the extra point attempt harder to convert by narrowing the uprights from 18.6 feet to 14 feet. The kick will also be moved back from the 2-yard line to the 15, essentially making it a 33 1/2-yard kick attempt.
MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) β The Australian Open resumes early this evening, U.S. time, with Day 4 play. The schedule features the two No. 1’s in the tournament, Novak Djokovic (NOH’-vak JOH’-kuh-vich) and Serena Williams.
