FORT MILL, S.C. — An investigation is underway after an infant died at a Fort Mill birthing center. Β The child allegedly died Tuesday morning. Β
The Department of Heath and Environmental Control says they are pursuing an investigation at Carolina Community Maternity Center, a company that uses certified midwives. Β
This is the third death of an infant that has happened in the last two years. In 2013, DHEC claims the center should have called a doctor after a woman experienced complications during her pregnancy which ended with the death of the woman’s baby. Β
The center was shut down temporally in 2013 after two infants died within six months. Β This is a developing story. Β Check back for updates.
