CHARLOTTE, NC — The manhunt for a murder suspect in Iredell County ended with his arrest in Charlotte.  That suspect will face a judge Thursday.

Police arrested Jeffrey Gillespie after a traffic stop near an office building on Euclid Avenue in Dilworth Wednesday morning.  He is accused of killing his estranged wife’s boyfriend.

A newspaper carrier found 25-year-old Robert Swedlund’s body outside the Troutman Animal Hospital on Murdock Road Tuesday morning.  Neighbors tell WCCB Charlotte they are relieved an arrest has been made.

“You actually think you maybe sleep a little bit better at night too, knowing that he’s been caught and won’t be a danger to someone else,” said Troutman resident Don Cash.

Gillespie’s brother told WCCB Charlotte that the men got into an argument before the gun went off.
