FOXBOROUGH, MA — The New England Patriots’ head coach and quarterback both say “Deflategate” is nothing but hot air.  The Pats are accused of illegally deflating 11 of 12 footballs they used in their big AFC Championship win Sunday.

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady says he has a regular process for getting accustomed to game day footballs.  He insists he’s never altered any of them.

“I feel like I’ve always played within the rules,” said Brady.  “I would never do anything to break the rules.  I believe in fair play.”

“The balls we practice with are as bad as they can be,” said Head Coach Bill Belichick.  “Wet, sticky, cold, slippery… however bad we can make ’em, I make ’em.”

An NFL team can be fined up to $25,000 for tampering with an approved football.
