CMPD Urging Support For Voluntary Home Visiting Extension To Reduce Crime

CHARLOTTE, NC–CMPD will hold a conference to extend North Carolina’s MIECHV program.

A report titled ‘Orange is Not Your Color” documented the role of voluntary home visiting to reduce convictions and prepare young and expectant parents to manage stressful parenting situation to reduce child abuse, neglect and future crimes.

Created with bi partisan support in 2010, the Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) program was designed to bring trained nurses or other trained home visiting professionals into the woman’s homes.

A meeting being is held 10 a.m. Thursday, January 29th at Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department on E. Trade Street is urging support and extension of the federal- state program.
