PHOENIX (AP) β Broadway star Idina Menzel says for her, Whitney Houston’s rendition of the national anthem is No. 1.
Menzel looks to make the song her own on Sunday at Super Bowl 49, and she says she’s dreamed about performing at the Super Bowl since she was a little girl.
The singer and actress says she wants to feel the emotion of the song and will allow how she’s feeling at the moment to dictate how she performs.
Menzel told reporters Thursday that Houston’s version was her favorite because the late singer was radiating the words of the anthem during her performance before Super Bowl 25.
Menzel, known for appearing in “Rent” and her role in the Disney film “Frozen,” says she doesn’t expect to be more nervous than usual on Sunday.
