JCSU Students Arrested for Hazing

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Six students at Johnson C. Smith University face criminal charges after being accused of hazing.

Detectives have charged Edward Alexander, Clifton Gregg, Nickalos Hayden, Touangaheofa Langi and Patrick Philogene.

According to officers, they were notified thatΒ between November 17, 2014 and January 17, 2015, a victim had been hazed by members of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity of Johnson C. Smith University. The victim told officers the he was struck with an object numerous times by fraternity members at various locations both on and off campus.

During several of the encounters, the victim sustained serious injuries. After going to Novant Presbyterian Hospital for the injuries, the victim decided to called police.

On Monday, the men accused of hazing turned themselves in to police.

Johnson C. Smith University has suspended the Rho Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., for all activities, and the organization has been suspended from campus.
