CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police are searching for a driver who ditched his luxury car after he crashed into a power line pole and a bus stop.
The hit and run took place on Shamrock Drive in East Charlotte around 10 a.m. Friday morning near the history museum.
Reports say street racing led to a Mercedes losing control and slamming into a power pole. Witnesses say the driver of the Mercedes fled the scene in a SUV after the accident.
Nobody was injured in the accident and no one was at the bus stop when the car crashed.
The inbound lanes of Shamrock Drive are blocked off while utility crews replace the mangled power pole.
