MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) β€” Serena Williams has once again beaten Maria Sharapova (shah-rah-POH’-vah). Williams beat the Russian 6-3, 7-6 for her sixth Australian Open championship. Williams is now 17-2 lifetime against Sharapova.

PHOENIX (AP) β€” There’s not much going on today in the Phoenix area as the Patriots and Seahawks complete their preparations for tomorrow’s NFL Championship game. This will be the 49th Super Bowl and while the Seahawks are looking to repeat as champs the Patriots are looking for their fourth.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) β€” The unbeaten Virginia Cavaliers have a test on their hands tonight. The second-ranked Cavs, who are 19-0, are playing host to an angry fourth-ranked Duke team. The Blue Devils are coming off a loss earlier in the week to No. 8 Notre Dame.

ATLANTA (AP) β€” The Atlanta Hawks remain the hottest team in the NBA, riding an 18-game winning streak. Tonight the Eastern Conference-leading Hawks go for No. 19 with a home game against the 76ers.

UNDATED (AP) β€” There are three games being played this afternoon in the NHL. The contests feature the Canadiens playing host to Washington, Detroit home to the Islanders and Arizona at Ottawa.
