Deputies: Father Shoots Son After He Threatened To Burn House Down

GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — Police say a man shot his son after he threatened to burn the family’s home down.  Deputies say they responded to the home on Freedom Mill Road just after midnight.

The father, Ralph Wilson, 78, said he found his son pouring lighter fluid on the couch and threatening to set the house on fire.

Wilson told police his son charged him so he shot him in the chest with a handgun.

The son was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  The case will be presented to the District Attorney’s Office to determine if any charges will be filed in the case.
