It includes physical violence, sexual violence, threats and emotional abuse. The frequency and severity of domestic violence can vary dramatically. Unfortunately, one in four women will be impacted by domestic violence during their lifetime, with three women being killed by their intimate partner each day and more than 15 million children being exposed to domestic violence each year, all in the United States. The Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department, alone, responded to more than 36,000 domestic violence related calls last year. S2F2 can‘t end domestic violence alone. This year, we‘re asking you to join in our efforts. It‘s our hope that every time you see or wear the color purple you will think of the faceless victims and that you will all take a moment to familiarize yourself with the plaguing epidemic that is domestic violence.
