Vigil Held for Teen Shooting Victim While He Recovers from His Second Surgery

CHARLOTTE, N.C. –  Family, friends and even strangers gathered together at Marshall Park on Wednesday night to hold a vigil for Dandre Martin as he is recovering in the hospital from his second surgery.

The teen was apparently hit by a bullet while skateboarding through his southeast Charlotte neighborhood on Tuesday night.   Dandre laid in the road bleeding until a woman drove by, saw him and called 911.  The good samaritan chose to remain anonymous but told WCCB that she still worries about the boy’s health.

On Wednesday night a vigil was held in Marshall Park for Dandre with those in attendance calling out to stop the violence. 

Police continue to search for the shooter as Dandre lies in the hospital and the family prays for his recovery.
