CLEVELAND (AP) — The longest winning streak in the NBA is now held by Cleveland. The Cavaliers racked up their 12th straight win last night with a decisive 105-94 victory over the visiting Clippers. In fact the game wasn’t that close as the Cavs led by as many as 32 in the second. They go for a franchise record-tying 13th straight tonight with a game against the Pacers.
SAN DIEGO (AP) — Tiger Woods had to pull out of this week’s PGA event in San Diego with a sore back. He withdrew from the Farmers Insurance Open after 11 holes yesterday with tightness in his lower back. The former world No. 1 has missed the cut three times, withdrawn twice and finished 69th in his last six tournaments.
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — The Toronto Blue Jays have lost their arbitration case with infielder Danny Valencia. Instead of the $1.2 million the Jays offered Valencia, who hit .258 last season, he will get what he asked for, $1,675,000.
BOCA RATON, Fla. (AP) — The first full-field event of the year on the Champions Tour starts today. The Allianz Championship in Boca Raton, Florida, features the man who dominated play last year, Bernhard Langer (LAHNG’-ur). The German won five events in 2014. New to the field this year is Nolan Henke (HEHN’-kee), who turned 50 in November.
IGLS, Austria (AP) — There was a strong showing for American women today in World Cup bobsled competition. Elana Meyers Taylor won her fifth World Cup race of the season to extend her lead in the overall standings. Meyers Taylor and pusher Lauryn Williams trailed after the opening heat but wrapped up the race by winning the final run. American teams finished third and fourth in the competition.
