CHARLOTTE, NC — A third sex offender has moved out of a controversial group home in east Charlotte. Β Neighbors on McAlpine Lane have fought for weeks to get the home shut down.
Their fears for safety escalated when one of the offenders was arrested for trying to enter a preschool at Hickory Grove Baptist Church last month. Β The Department of Public Safety is working to relocate the remaining three offenders still in the house.
“The repeat offenses are staggering, and that’s what really bothers us,” said one neighbor.
In addition to the group home, there are 117 convicted sex offenders in a 3 mile radius of that neighborhood.
