INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Spurs coach Gregg Popovich has joined some select company by winning his 1,000th NBA game. His Spurs shot down the Pacers in Indianapolis last night 95-93 as Marco Belinelli hit the game winning shot with 2.1 seconds left. Popovich is the ninth coach to record 1,000 wins and just the second to win that many games with one team.

UNDATED (AP) — The two winningest teams in the NBA were winners last night. Golden State, the top club in the West, put an end to the 76ers’ four-game winning streak with an 89-84 victory; while the Atlanta Hawks, the top club in the East, got a season-high 28 points from Al Horford in a 117-105 win over Minnesota.

STORRS, Conn. (AP) — It’s always news when the top two teams in the AP poll meet head-on and last night such was the case in Storrs, Connecticut, when second-ranked UConn beat No. 1 South Carolina 87-62 in women’s hoops. Assuming the Huskies can beat Tulane on Saturday, they will reclaim the No. 1 position in next week’s poll.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell (guh-DEHL’) has established an internal committee to review stadium options in Los Angeles and coordinate any possible move of a team to Southern California. The move was outlined in a league memo obtained Monday by The Associated Press. The memo emphasizes that the league, not a single team, controls when and where a move can take place.

LONDON (AP) — The U.S. will face Italy in the next round of the Fed Cup.
