WASHINGTON, D.C. — The President will soon ask Congress for permission to use military force against ISIS. Β The request would expand President Obama’s authority to fight the terror group over the next three years.

Obama’s proposal will try to assure both Democrats who don’t want troops on the ground, and Republicans who want to leave that option open. Β

“This department certainly supports a new authorization for military force,” said Pentagon Press Secretary Rear Admiral John Kirby. Β “We believe it’s appropriate.”

Some lawmakers have also expressed concern that the plan would restrict the decisions of the next President. Β The proposal has not yet been finalized. Β No word on when it will be formerly sent to Congress.
