MOUNT HOLLY, N.C. — Police say they arrested a man for a double homicide and arson investigation in Mt. Holly.
Peter James Rivers Jr., 40, is accused of killing his girlfriend Bridget Berry, 38, and her son Treyvon (TJ) Berry, 17, and then starting a fire inside the home on Ridgewood Court to cover up the crime. Rivers allegedly lived at the home with the two victims.
Initial reports indicted that a vehicle was missing from the home. Police later found the Chevrolet Suburban in Georgia in the possession of Rivers.
Police signed warrants against Rivers for two counts of first degree murder on Thursday. Rivers waived extradition and will return to Gaston County to face his charges.
