Mom of Four Wins Powerball Jackpot

SHALLOTTE, NC — A mother’s last-minute decision to buy a lottery ticket is paying off big time.  A woman in Shallotte, North Carolina stepped up Friday to claim her share in the $564 million Powerball jackpot.

Marie Holmes quit both of her jobs last year to take care of her child with cerebral palsy, and says now all her kids can have a better life.

“I’m thankful that I can bless my kids with something I didn’t have,” said Holmes.  “First I’m gonna pay my tithes because I wouldn’t have none of it if it weren’t for that.”

Wilson plans to set up bank accounts and buy houses for her children.  She also plans to go on a trip, but didn’t say where.
