
CHARLOTTE, N.C.– Officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department along with officers from the UNC Charlotte Police Department, have arrested and charged Victor Alexis Ignacio, 21, and Kevin Romero, 22, for their involvement in an attempted armed robbery.
On Saturday at 2:30 a.m., officers responded to the 1100 block of Campus Pointe Court in reference to an attempted armed robbery.
When the officers arrived, the victims told police that they were walking to their residence when they saw a car riding through the parking lot. The car then drove up to the victims and the passenger exited the vehicle and brandished a firearm demanding their property.
The victims took off running and immediately called 911. The victims provided officers on scene with a description of the suspect vehicle. A short time later officers from the UNC Charlotte Police Department saw a vehicle matching the description pull in to a driveway nearby.
Both of the passengers exited the vehicle and were detained by officers. The suspects were both positively identified and transported to the University City Division team office where they were interviewed by detectives. Officers later recovered a stolen firearm inside the suspect vehicle.
Both suspects were charged with Attempted Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and Possession of a Stolen Firearm and are in the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.
