CHARLOTTE, NC — Grocery stores were swarmed with shoppers preparing to be iced in Monday. We found bread and milk picked pretty clean at the Food Lion on Park Road. Most people were able to stock up on necessities to tide them over for a few days.
“I got pretty much everything I needed except food, but now I’m good,” said Charlotte resident Chris Hobbs. “The only thing that was… I think I got the last thing of chicken breasts, but other than that, everything was pretty much in stock for me.”
Many people are hoping we don’t see a repeat of the ice storm that crippled Charlotte back in December of 2002. A half an inch of ice coated Charlotte. More than 285,000 Duke Energy customers lost power, and some neighborhoods were in the dark for more than a week.
