ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. — A man is accused of stealing a vehicle from a local dealership. David Monroe, 24, allegedly made a copy of a key to a 2010 SS Camaro. Monroe made the copy when he took the car for a test drive and returned later in the night to steal the vehicle.
Detectives located the vehicle a month later parked at the residence of 109 Ridge Avenue. The suspect was taken from this address into custody. The vehicle was recovered during the arrest and returned to Cloninger Ford.
Monroe had been charged on a citation and released in early February, with possession of another car unrelated to this incident.
Monroe was charged with larceny of a motor vehicle and possession of a stolen vehicle. He is now in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $15,000 secured bond.
