CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Investigators say an employee of the Mecklenburg County Health Department School Health program has been arrested in a federal murder-for-hire case.
Fathia Davis, a school health nurse supervisor, has been charged with use of interstate commerce facilities in the commission of murder-for-hire.
Police say this is not related to her work with Mecklenburg County. She has been suspended without pay pending the outcome of the charges, according to a county spokesperson.
A federal affidavit claims Davis solicited a man to murder her ex-husband. When the man said he would not murder her ex-husband, she allegedly asked him to find someone that would.
The affidavit says Davis was persistent in asking so the man eventually went to police. That’s when police say they had an undercover detective meet with Davis.
Davis is accused of telling the detective she would pay $4,000 for someone to shoot her ex-husband in the head. Police say Davis gave the detective her ex-husband’s address, a picture of him and a $300 deposit.
