Animal Control Worker Fined, Demoted

UNION COUNTY — A Union County Animal Control worker fined by the state for the unauthorized euthanasia of animals and unprofessional conduct has also been demoted.
Michelle Starnes lost her rank as lieutenant, and is now a sergeant. Her salary is now about $60,000 after she was docked more than $4,500 as part of the demotion.
Starnes was fined February 18 by the State Department of Agriculture. She was demoted by the Sheriff’s Office on the 21st. Her public personnel file doesn’t reveal why.
